My Life as an Altruist

My name is Allyse Watson, and I am an Executive Recruiter at W Talent Solutions. In my role, I work to identify and attract top executive talent for high-impact roles. With a focus on strategic hiring, I leverage deep industry insight and strong relationship-building skills to connect exceptional leaders with organizations. Throughout school and my early career, I have thrived in collaborative environments through team projects, internships, or leadership roles. I’ve consistently found motivation in working with others, building strong relationships, and seeing a shared goal come to life.

When I joined W Talent Solutions, I was introduced to the Predictive Index (PI) assessment. I was immediately intrigued by the opportunity to better understand my workplace motivations and behaviors. Taking the BA (Behavioral Assessment) gave me language and insight into things I had already felt about myself but had never clearly defined. It was exciting to have a tool that could articulate not just what I do well, but why I do it, and how I naturally operate in a team setting.

According to PI, my profile type is an Altruist — a congenial and cooperative person with an efficient, precise work ethic. My results reflected that I am an outgoing, empathetic, and collaborative communicator. I thrive in team environments and naturally prioritize group or company goals over personal ones. I’m driven by a genuine interest in people, and I build and leverage relationships to get work done. While I enjoy working at a fast pace, I also value doing things correctly, which means I balance efficiency with a focus on accuracy and results. My strengths include strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and a sense of urgency, paired with a deep desire to support and uplift those around me.

Reading my results, I was surprised, but not shocked by how aligned they were with my day-to-day experiences. One realization that really stood out was how my desire to help others and work quickly is balanced by a strong internal drive to “get it right.” I’ve always felt that tension between speed and precision, and PI helped me see that it’s part of what makes me effective: I don’t just want to get the job done, I want to do it well, for the good of the team. It also made me more aware of the environments where I perform best: collaborative, people-focused, and mission-driven.

Since receiving my PI results, I’ve been more intentional in how I approach my work and interactions with colleagues. Understanding my own profile has helped me better recognize the styles and needs of others, and adjust my communication and collaboration accordingly. I believe PI is incredibly valuable in the workplace because it promotes self-awareness and mutual understanding—both of which are essential for creating a high-functioning team culture. Knowing how different profile types interact allows us to anticipate challenges, solve problems more effectively, and build trust across teams. Ultimately, the more we understand ourselves and each other, the more successful and aligned we can be in reaching our shared goals.”
